I n today’s world, weakness is rarely welcomed.

In fact, most of us go to great lengths to avoid seeming weak. Even in ministry, we can feel we are in a constant internal “performance review,” where we attempt to highlight our strengths and camouflage our brokenness. 

But while God blesses us with gifts to advance His Kingdom, human achievements don’t showcase the grace of God – human helplessness does. Throughout redemptive history we see God showing His strength through weakness, culminating in Jesus’s own death on the cross. Only to be raised again by the Father.

Learning to lean on Christ’s all-surpassing power, instead of our own efforts, can bring new joy and freedom in ministry.
