Meet Our Leadership
Our Executive Leadership Team
Upon returning to the U.S., Bob served as Executive Director of the Charlottesville, Va., affiliate of Love INC and then as Director of Missions and Ministries at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Bringing together many aspects of his background, Bob joined Serge in 2002 as U.S. Director and was appointed Executive Director in 2005.
Bob and his wife Nancy have two grown children and in his spare time, he loves to garden and play bocce ball.
In Uganda, Matt sought to share the love of the Father with the marginalized and poor, as a member of a larger Serge team focused on healthcare, education, evangelism, church strengthening, and other community development projects. Upon completing his term in Uganda, Matt returned to the U.S. and eventually pursued graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Rochester.
In 2012 Matt returned to Serge to lead the mission’s mobilization effort. Matt and his wife Rachel live in West Philadelphia. He is a dedicated cyclist, including a regular 15-mile ride to work. His days are filled with travel, reading, hospitality, and membership at City Church, Philadelphia.
The father of four adult daughters, Joel reads, writes, hikes, and explores in and around London.
Global Leadership
Their role includes both “coaching” and “playing”. First, they serve as East Africa Area Directors for Serge, supervising teams in Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, and South Sudan (on hold currently). Second, they both serve as doctors to provide compassionate and excellent health care and training in the name of Jesus, reaching the vulnerable throughout East Africa. Currently they are also leading the Bundibugyo team and managing Christ School. Their children Luke (’93) married to Abby, Caleb ('95), Julia ('96), and Jack ('98) call Africa home as they finish training and education and embark upon their own lives.
Scott grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jennifer in Sterling, Va. They met at the University of Virginia. Following graduation Scott attended the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine while Jennifer received her medical degree from Johns Hopkins. They were married in 1987.
Scott chose to serve the poor at Cook County Hospital in their family medicine residency, and then worked in a church-based, inner-city clinic while completing a certificate in Biblical Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Meanwhile Jennifer completed her pediatric training at Northwestern University's Children's Memorial Hospital. During a one-year study sabbatical in 2001 they both received Masters in Public Health degrees from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
For more than two decades they have sought to follow the example of Jesus in neglected areas of Africa by healing, teaching, and preaching the good news of the Kingdom, and drawing others alongside them to do the same.
Scott and Jennifer have combined curative and preventive care by working in the hospital, participating in health management, and promoting community health, focusing in the areas of HIV prevention, newborn survival, and childhood nutrition. They have invested heavily in the training of emerging indigenous leaders, and have conducted research to better understand and address health issues in their area.
Both consider it a joy to minister to Jesus by caring for the least (in the world's eyes) of His children, and by prayerfully supporting the expansion of the Kingdom through relationships with Serge teams.
Bob is the Serge Area Director for the United Kingdom and South Asian Ministries. As such, he is involved in church planting, and supervision of the ministries of church planting in the U.K. and South Asia. Keren is active in the church, overseeing numerous Bible studies, and also supervises the ASHA Charity Shop ministries. Their children are now adults and living in the U.K.
Barry and Amy live in a multi-cultural community of West London. Barry serves as a church planting pastor while together they are Area Directors for Serge UK. They currently oversee six church planting teams, one counselling centre and one missionary training program (Serge apprenticeship). Both engage in weekly outreach, evangelism, discipleship and mercy ministry in connection with a Hounslow church plant and the Serge Hounslow outreach team.
Barry holds a DMin from Covenant Seminary and is ordained in the International Presbyterian Church (IPC).
U.S. Leadership
Before joining Serge in 2020, Michelle spent 17 years in the MBA career management space working with employers, alumni, and students at both The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and The Johnson School at Cornell University. Her work included relationship building and business development with large and small companies across industries. She managed a team of career advisors, employer engagement leads, and operations staff to meet goals of student placement and student satisfaction.
Michelle grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs and attended Syracuse University where she earned a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish Language & Literature. Her husband Dave is Pastor of Emerging Generations at New Life Dresher, and they live in Glenside with their three children.
Nicole has served in various leadership roles throughout her 19+ years in corporate settings, including VP of HR. She also serves as an adjunct professor and conducts career, organizational, and leadership development coaching and consulting in her own business. Nicole earned an MBA (2014) and a Master’s in Human Resource Development (2013) from Clemson University.
Nicole lives in Upstate SC and loves reading, music, and encouraging others to “be a light.” She is married to her high school sweetheart, Kareem, and they share one daughter who loves to dance.
Holly first learned about the work of Serge through her church in Chattanooga. She loves to see women grow deeper in their walk with Jesus as a Bible study facilitator at Hixson Presbyterian. Holly and her husband, Keith, have four children and recently welcomed their first grandchild. In her spare time, Holly enjoys singing, hiking, and an occasional ride on jet skis.
Before joining Serge, Matt studied computer science at Covenant College, then gained experience in database administration and IT leadership at organizations such as Esperanza Health Center in North Philadelphia and Westminster Theological Seminary. His roles included managing databases, enhancing data applications, and overseeing technical operations.
Matt lives in Philadelphia with his wife and young son. He is committed to deepening his understanding of God and integrating his faith into all aspects of life. He enjoys reading, baking, brewing coffee, and finding new ways to stay active in his 40s.
Prior to joining Serge in 2014, Stephanie spent seven years in education, first as middle school teacher and then as an instructor and grant writer at an adult literacy nonprofit. She has a BA from Swarthmore College and resides in West Philadelphia (West Philly best Philly!) with her husband and children.
Professionally, Jennifer has been in nonprofit work for over 25 years. For the first eleven years of her career, Jennifer learned the foundations of nonprofit management at a nonprofit in Wheaton, IL ultimately working in senior leadership with responsibility for strategizing financial viability, donor messaging, and crisis management.
When she and Patric moved to Philly to work at Serge, Jennifer devoted her time to staying at home with their son Parker, while volunteering at their church and at Serge. In 2010, Veritus Group recruited her to join their team helping nonprofits reach their fundraising goals, mainly in major gifts. Since then, Jennifer has managed dozens of clients and helped hundreds of individuals, gaining tremendous insight herself from these wonderful people.
She is thrilled that God has opened a door to bring the experiences he has given her to benefit an organization about which she cares so deeply.

Our Founder
Dr. Jack Miller
Serge (formerly World Harvest Mission) was organized under the leadership of Dr. Jack Miller, a pastor, evangelist and author. In the late 1970s, the missions-outreach of the congregation he founded and pastored, New Life Presbyterian Church, was spreading beyond that local body.
Other church leaders gathered with Dr. Miller to work together in wider ministry. After many informal missions trips to Ireland and Uganda, Serge was officially established in 1983.
Today, Serge has over 300 missionaries serving in over 25 countries around the world.
