Begin a Conversation
To take the first step toward serving with Serge, fill out a Go Form to help us best serve you as you explore your calling into cross-cultural ministry.
After we receive your form, a mobilizer will get in touch with you within a week.
Over the course of a few informal conversations, we’ll learn about your passions, skills, and experience and explore roles and potential locations together. If appropriate, we will put you in touch with a relevant overseas staff member of our mission. You will also go on a site visit to the field under consideration to give you a chance to meet the team you may be joining.
Personal Discipleship
Applying the gospel to ourselves first and pursuing reconciliation is at the heart of Serge’s identity as a mission. We know how easy it can be to forget just how much we need Jesus, especially in the face of difficult ministry or burnout.
Because of this, every missionary who joins Serge is personally discipled by an experienced Serge mentor through a program called Sonship, the Christ-centered, grace-based teaching that shapes our culture and compels our work. At this point, we will ask you to begin the Sonship course.
Application
If your recruiter and the field team leader agree to move forward, we’ll also send you the official application to help determine your fit for cross-cultural ministry, Serge broadly, and that Serge team specifically and ask you to gather a set of references.
Assessment and Orientation
Upon reviewing your application, we’ll invite you to come to spend a week with us for Assessment and Orientation (A&O) at our home office in suburban Philadelphia. A&O will introduce you to the heart of Serge—the mission’s vision, values, and history.
During this week we’ll come to a final decision on your appointment to the field and equip you with the tools you’ll need to begin support raising.
Preparation and Launch
Serge missionaries raise their full support for salary and ministry. During this time, a dedicated support coach will guide you step-by-step through the entire process – with weekly calls for check-ins and prayer. You can expect challenges and growth in this journey, but you can also expect an experienced mentor along the way. You will never be walking it alone.
Pre-Field Training:
After support-raising is complete, we offer several pre-field training programs to help you launch on the field with a gospel-centered foundation and build your ministry faster.
- Launch Week: (Adding Description here.) ..to help you apply the gospel to common challenges you will face on the field.
- Cross-Cultural Training with a trusted partner organization.
- Assistance with language learning, visa applications, navigating options for children’s education, and more.
