Youth Worker / Medical Vocational Intern – Lima, Peru

Serge teams in Lima partner with Peruvians to develop churches and support church leaders, all to see God’s Kingdom expand in Peru. Many there do not know Jesus, especially among the youth, with secularism growing in popularity. The church is under-resourced and in need of support in every area. Serge workers in Lima do work in facilitative church planting, youth ministry, education, and medical missions. 

This team is now looking for a vocational intern who is curious about Latin American culture, excited about language learning, and would enjoy the opportunity to bless the youth of the community and the local Peruvian church (with the possibility of some exposure to medical missions work). The term will start on September 1, 2026, and run until May 2027.

Responsibilities:

• Live in an extremely urban setting (Lima is the only Latin American capital city on the Pacific coast. The metro area is home to over 11 million people) 
• Experience serving in an evangelistic ministry along domestic partner, Young Life Peru
• Spend time growing in relationship with and being mentored by YL Peru staff
• Dive into intensive Spanish language classes
• Serve the local church through various discipleship and outreach ministries
• Gain experience/exposure to medical missions work, coming alongside a Pediatrician on the team (*only for applicants with previous medical qualifications or experience)

Requirements and Critical Qualities:

• A humble and teachable spirit 
• A desire for personal spiritual mentorship
• A flexible and positive attitude
• A Spanish speaker or someone with the desire to dive into intensive Spanish language immersion courses.
• Enjoy working with children and teens
• A committed Christian who has cross-cultural experience or desire 
• A willingness to receive positive feedback and constructive criticism
• A willingness to raise support and come through a mission agency
• *If seeking medical missions experience, you must have a certified medical worker with a degree and preferably one year of experience.

Support Raising:

The person in this role raises their full financial support for salary, ministry expenses, and benefits.
When you are appointed to go with Serge, you are assigned a support coach who will guide you step-by-step through the entire support-raising process.
