London is a city at the crossroads of the world, and the neighborhood of Southall is the junction where East meets West, rich meets poor, and where distinct cultures meet and live.
Southall and its surrounding neighborhoods offer a unique place to experience many aspects of South Asian culture and celebrate the life-changing love of Christ.
Since 1994, the Serge team has been active in Southall. In all ministries, the Serge team is committed to equipping local believers to continue serving for years to come.
In partnership with others, the Southall team planted New Life Masih Ghar Church (NLMG) in 1997. NLMG is a congregation (of the IPC) made up of people from many different countries and religious backgrounds who are united by a common faith in Jesus. Worship takes place primarily in English, but the church also integrates South Asian language and culture as they gather on Sunday and throughout the week.
NLMG has seen several churches planted out of its congregation in the last twenty years, including New Life Suwarta Sangat in Harrow and New City in Shepherd’s Bush.
The Southall team sees the church as a sign, instrument, and foretaste of God’s Kingdom. In partnership with New Life Masih Ghar Church, we seek to bless the community of Southall through Scripture teaching, worship, discipleship, fellowship, service, mercy, and justice.
This includes Sunday worship gatherings, Bible studies, charity (thrift) shops, youth club, kid’s club, young adults outreach, a “mums and tots” group, and growing relationships in our community. In everything, the team is committed to equipping local believers to continue serving for years to come.
The Southall team desires for fellow co-laborers to join in service to New Life Masih Ghar Church and its surrounding communities. With such a beautifully diverse cultural tapestry on display, an observant posture is where all future endeavors should begin.
Future team members should have a patient heart for listening, learning, and cultivating relationships with community neighbors. They should be self-starters, who influence others through friendship, service, teaching, discipleship, and leadership, willing to lay themselves down for Christ’s glory and the good of Southall.
