Counseling Vocational Intern- Guatemala City, Guatemala

This team in Guatemala City desires to learn from and serve those who are on the margins of society, and see the holistic health (spiritual, physical, and relational) of Guatemala City’s churches and communities transformed by the power of the gospel.

They work to support the Guatemalan church by equipping and supporting ministry leaders through training and psychotherapy, as well as serve the neighborhood surrounding the city garbage dump by providing a variety of primary and preventive healthcare opportunities.

The internship can range from 2 to 11 months, depending on the candidate’s availability, and this role is open starting in the summer of 2027. It is for a fully trained and qualified mental health professional with a heart to participate in the redemption of hearts and souls through trauma counseling

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate child/family therapy with the children and women living in domestic violence shelters 
• Walk alongside children who are exiting residential care into foster or adoptive care 
• Lead counseling for church and ministry leaders, both local and expatriate

Requirements and Critical Qualities:

• Native Spanish fluency
• A minimum of a masters in counseling from an accredited US college or university, with completed licensure in the candidate’s home state
• At least one year of clinical work experience in a practice prior to deployment
• Demonstrated history of cross cultural work
• References from a clinical supervisor and a current work supervisor
