Started by a Chilean couple who are friends of Serge and who lost both of their children to severe disabilities, they have a heart for these children and know of the struggles that their families face. The team will help with the construction of a camp that will provide a place for the children to be loved and cared for, and their parents to be ministered to.

This short-term team will explore a major European city, learn about the cultural and religious temperature and needs of the place, and participate in biblically-based round-table discussions on creation, culture, and identity. Our workers hope that participants will come away with a heart for the unreached and a desire to be in vulnerable and rooted relationships with lost people.

Trip length: 1 Week (arrive Saturday, return the following weekend)

Team will help with one of the 3 following construction opportunities, all of which are important to the work of Serge in the D.R.:

• Paving La Mesa Ministry property driveway. Mixing and pouring concrete on a slope.
• Construction of the La Mesa Kiosk: Building a covered wooden kiosk for fellowship and relaxation for groups/individuals using La Mesa’s property.
• Building a carport. This will be to cover an area of La Mesa ministries’ property, which we hope to use in a variety of ways – from teaching auto mechanics to hosting local youth.

Additional activities could include: worship with La Vid (a local church), a pool party with La Vid, hosting a pizza/movie night in the community, sightseeing/shopping in town, and crafts with a local women’s group, and/or
local school.

Team will help with one of 4 following youth & children ministry opportunities, all important to the work of Serge in the D.R.:

• Hosting the Crucero Sports Camp. Teaching soccer, volleyball, etc., to local youth with additional time to share Bible stories, etc.
• Developing and leading the Crucero Vacation Bible School for the local community.
• Teaching English in the community for Crucero English Class.
• Hosting the Crucero Arts/Crafts Camp by teaching more complex handiworks, possibly with an exhibit at the end for the local community.

Additional activities could include: worship with La Vid, pool party with La Vid, activities for Women, activities for youth, river swim, sightseeing/shopping in town, and baking.

The team will assist Serge workers with photography, videography, and writing for local team-run businesses, as well as praying with and for their work. This is a secure location that requires creativity to have access and long-term stability.

One business is a counseling business that both counsels and trains local leaders on how to handle mental health concerns like addiction and trauma.

The second business is an export business that works with local artisans in remote areas to connect them to the global market.

Team will help with one of 3 urgent construction projects
important to the work of Serge in the DR:

• Mixing and pouring concrete to pave La Mesa Ministry property driveway that becomes impassable in wet weather.
• Build covered wood kiosk for a place of fellowship on La Mesa Ministry property
• Build La Mesa carport. A covered area we will use to teach auto mechanics to  local youth: a HUGE need in our area!
• Also, crafts with local women’s group and/or school along with a community night

On this trip, your team will learn about world religions and cultures as well as participate in prayer and outreach alongside Serge missionaries and local churches in predominantly South Asian neighborhoods.

Trip length: 1 week

Forward LEAP participants support Serge’s annual LEAP Short-Term Trip. Forward LEAPers will arrive a few days before LEAP participants to be trained to implement – as well as participate in – all of the various aspects of LEAP. You will stay an extra 2 days to help with outreach follow-up and debrief. Come dip your toes into cross-cultural ministry by not only participating in this important outreach, but by getting to know and work alongside our Serge missionaries in this amazing global city.

Join this short-term missions trip to improve La Mesa Ministry’s property. This construction team will work on projects like completing a bathroom project, insulating the attic, and repairing La Casita, a small wooden cabin. Your participation will enhance their ministry space and make a lasting impact.

Trip length: 7 – 14 days depending on team members’ availability

Who: 4-5 adults who love Jesus and have experience in plumbing, electricity, and/or other areas of construction. Ability to speak Spanish is not required.

Jarabacoa, located in the mountains of the DR, is a location where owning a car is more a need than a luxury. Most vehicles are very old and take a beating from the unpaved roads. Reliable local mechanics are hard to find. Our team will be led by a certified mechanic and spend two weeks repairing the cars of missionaries, local pastors, and members of the church.

Max team size: Registration is open for church teams, family units, or individuals, with a maximum capacity of 100 participants. Initially, each church can register up to 10 people, but this limit may be adjusted if space remains available.

Who:  All adults, from retirees to college students and mature teenagers, are welcome. No prior ministry experience or training is necessary; only the willingness and ability to flexibly participate and travel between scheduled activities. For teams that include high school students, we kindly request that they recruit at least one adult for every two students.

Approx. trip cost:  If staying in a shared room, the cost per person will be $1,100, in addition to airfare. (This fee includes: room, ministry-related transportation, and ministry meals.)
