Global Studies Internship (Liberty University Students Only) – Middle East

The Serge team in the Middle East is committed to witnessing the transformation and renewal of communities in the host country and surrounding regions through the power of the gospel for both the world’s good and God’s glory. They are offering a GLST internship opportunity designed for Liberty University students who have a desire to learn about the Middle Eastern region, engage in cross-cultural living and ministry, and conduct ethnographic research.

This opportunity may also provide opportunities to learn about cross-cultural counseling, counseling methodologies, member care, and teaching English as a second language.

Interns will experience gospel work, cultural immersion, and spiritual mentorship/discipling.

The Middle East remains one of the least-reached regions in the world. Despite legal restrictions and spiritual oppression, there exists a remnant of genuine believers who have placed their faith in Christ. Serge workers live in a diverse urban setting, offering opportunities to collaborate with local believers and like-minded workers to assist displaced individuals from neighboring countries and minister to the local community. Serge workers in the region work in counseling, discipleship, teaching, and evangelism. They also partner with local believers whenever possible and strive to strengthen the local church.

This opportunity runs January to May, 2026.

Responsibilities:

• Actively participate in team life (meetings, retreats, activities, etc.)
• Be mentored by long-term, cross-cultural workers
• Experience living cross-culturally, relating to people of different cultures, and understanding the predominant belief systems in the region
• Study spoken Arabic with a private tutor or in a classroom setting, and begin to develop relationships within the community
• Gain a deeper understanding of God’s work in the Middle East
• Explore opportunities for long-term service using your unique giftings and skills

Requirements and Critical Qualities:

• A Liberty University GLST student 
• A Christian and actively walking with the Lord, with a desire to grow in your understanding of the gospel at work in your life
• Cross-culturally sensitive, with a heart for Kingdom work in the least-reached regions, and interested in exploring this type of work vocationally
• Mature, flexible, independent, self-motivated, and willing to take initiative
• The capability to complete required coursework online while participating in daily ministry and cultural immersion tasks
• 20-years-old or older
• Interested in the Arabic language and culture, and an eager to engage with the local community
• Willing to support raise
• Willing to live closely alongside fellow interns and teammates, and yet with a good amount of independence, in an urban environment

Support Raising:

The person in this role raises their full financial support for salary, ministry expenses, and benefits.
When you are appointed to go with Serge, you are assigned a support coach who will guide you step-by-step through the entire support-raising process.
