Where We Serve

Serge East Africa Media

Serge East Africa Media (SEAM) is a multi-team collaboration that creates media content among many different countries and unique cultures across East Africa.

Our desire is to uphold the inherent dignity of every image bearer and community in each of our projects while communicating what God is doing across East Africa in ways that make sense to Western audiences.

Our Guiding Principles

01 / 04

Inclusion

We as foreign workers are not the heroes of the story. With our projects, we aim to include key local community stakeholders into the conversation from the beginning of the process onward. We feel this is crucial, since the depiction of the community should be filtered through the ones who know and appreciate the nuances of the context.

02 / 04

Transparency

Consent to be videoed or photographed is only a half-step towards transparency. We want people and communities featured in our work to be aware of the end goal and use of creation. Legally, we are not required to explain the end use of the material captured, but ethically we hold ourselves to a higher standard and seek to gain consent not just for the images taken, but also for their intended use.

03 / 04

Holistic

Many of the stories we’re capturing will include hard and broken things. This is the nature of the world. But joy, hope, entrepreneurship, endurance, perseverance, generosity are all also found in the hard places. Our stories do not shy away from the very real need and hardship, but we always seek to end with hope and to preserve the dignity and complexity of each human life.

04 / 04

Bridging

Our projects should function as bridges that span the gap between the people, projects and cultures being depicted and the audience who will be viewing them. We aim to create content that is invitational, allowing audiences to become excited about what God is doing and to participate in His Kingdom that always leans towards hope, not despair.

Give to SEAM

Help us produce high-quality content that effectively captures and communicates the profound narratives and experiences of individuals within East Africa communities.

Your financial donation to SEAM not only supports the logistical aspects of media production but also enables Serge to broaden its reach and impact. This initiative provides a platform for voices that are rarely heard, enabling Serge missionaries to share their stories and the dynamic role of faith in their lives.

Ultimately, your donation serves a dual purpose: facilitating the production of inspiring content, and glorifying God by highlighting His work in diverse communities. Through your support, SEAM can persist in its role of celebrating and spreading faith throughout East Africa and beyond.
