Ross, Matt and Anna

Matt and Anna Ross moved to Granada, Nicaragua, in September 2017. Before moving to Granada they attended the Spanish Language Institute in San José, Costa Rica for eight months and have made a five-year commitment to serve in Granada. Matt will work with men and teenagers struggling with drug and alcohol addiction (using Celebrate Recovery), disciple men and teenagers in the community, occasionally preach at El Puente (the Bridge Church), be involved with the youth group, and participate in sports ministry programs.

Anna will implement a Community Health Evangelism program at the Granada Christian Education Center (GCEC), develop further parent outreach programs for the families of the GCEC, lead the mercy ministry at El Puente, participate with their Vida Joven (Young Life) ministry, be involved in women’s Bible studies, and disciple women in the community. Both will be involved with the multiple short-term mission teams that visit and contribute to the overall work of El Puente and the GCEC every year.

Matt and Anna are from North Carolina. Matt attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and graduated in 2005 with a degree in Communication Studies. From 2008-16 Matt worked as a social services case manager. He has worked with children and teenagers with severe mental health issues and for a homeless prevention program. In 2012 Anna graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine and from 2012-16 worked as a dentist.

Matt and Anna have a heart for meeting the spiritual and physical needs of those living in extreme poverty through education, empowerment and discipleship. They have been inspired and informed by the model presented in”When Helping Hurts.” If you are interested in the work Matt and Anna will be doing and would like more information, please contact them at aross@serge.org, mross@serge.org or 704-966-7438.
