The Banks are headed to Kibuye Hope Hospital, in Burundi, East Africa, to teach medical students with Hope Africa University.
Logan and Julie have had a heart for missions since their engagement. Not long after Logan proposed in 2005, they felt called to sacrifice a traditional wedding and join their lives together while serving on the mission field. Not knowing how it would play out, Julie packed a dress and veil and they headed to a small mission hospital in Cochabamba, Bolivia. When the time was right, Logan changed out of his scrubs while Julie bought fresh flowers from the Amazon jungle and they said “I do,” fully understanding that their lives were not their own, but the Lord’s to guide and use.
After graduating from A.T. Still University in 2006, Logan completed his residency at Cox Family Medicine Residency in Springfield, Mo., in 2009. He, Julie, and Liam (then one year old) traveled to Kenya while Logan completed an International Family Medicine Fellowship through Via Christi FMR. He then joined the faculty at Cox FMR, also completing an Obstetrics Fellowship.
After teaching family medicine in Springfield, Mo., for the past five years, Logan and his family feel called to join the Serge team in Kibuye, Burundi. They are currently in language school in Albertville, France, and hope to arrive in Burundi in the fall of 2016.
