Daryn and Brooke have their roots in Newburgh, Indiana. Daryn completed finance and accounting degrees from University of Southern Indiana and worked for six years as a CPA after also being on Young Life staff and leading international mission trips to the Caribbean. Brooke completed a civil engineering degree from Purdue University and spent six years teaching middle school science and math after her time on Young Life staff and raising young children. They have confidence the Lord has used these years to cultivate their gifts and stir their passion to take the gospel to the nations.
Daryn, Brooke, and their four children live in Fort Portal, Uganda, as missionaries with Serge. Daryn and Brooke are partnering with Youth Encouragement Services Uganda, otherwise known as Y.E.S. Uganda. The mission is to provide at-risk children and teens with resources such as school fees, uniforms, books, school lunch, and discipleship; aiding nearly 300 young people facing life-threatening poverty. These children would otherwise not be able to obtain an education, ensuring the cycle of poverty in a country where nearly 80% of children never finish elementary school.
Daryn and Brooke also disciple young people who participate in Y.E.S.’s sponsorship and vocational training programs that provide specific training in income-generating vocations. These programs help young people navigate the challenges of life in an area with the highest HIV rates in the country.
