Michael and Karen Masso serve with the Serge team in Kijabe, Kenya. After 13 years in Uganda and six years in South Sudan they now teach, train, mentor, and equip young people for holistic gospel ministry. Michael is a lecturer at Moffat Bible College where he launched a new major in Community Development. Students are well grounded in Bible, theology, and spiritual formation and also trained in the economic, sociological, ecological, and human-project-resource management aspects of community development. All of this works together to equip men and women from Kenya and other East African countries to put love in action and see their communities transformed by God’s coming kingdom. Both Michael and Karen engage in encouraging and mentoring missionary kids at Rift Valley Academy. They also continue to visit and support the work of the Serge team in Mundri, South Sudan.
The Massos have three children who have all grown up in Africa: Acacia, Liana, and Gaby. They are thriving in the multicultural learning environment at Rift Valley Academy and transitioning to college life in America.
