Mundri, South Sudan

Serge's work in South Sudan is built around partnership with the local church. An essential aspect of this partnership is the equipping of local leadership for the church and community.

For five years the Serge team worked with the Episcopal Church of Sudan to re-open, rehabilitate, and operate the Archbishop Ngalamu Theological College (ATNC) in Mundri. Men and women were being trained in Bible and Theology and Community Development. Sadly, the college is once again closed indefinitely due to the insecurity in Mundri.

We hope to help re-open the college again when peace returns. In the meantime, we have the opportunity to sponsor some students for studies in theological education in Uganda and Kenya.

As of 2016 we have six students enrolled:
  • Charles Tata and Jacob Mondoge are ANTC graduates who are now studying at African Bible University in Uganda. They are working on four-year bachelor degree programs in Bible and Theology with a vision to return to Mundri in 2020 to teach at ANTC.

  • Alex Akoro, Thomas Malish, Timothy Emmam, and Gibson Malaki are working on three-year diplomas in Bible and Theology at Moffat Bible College in Kenya.

  • Alex and Thomas are concentrating in Community Development while Timothy and Gibson are concentrating in Counseling.

Each of these men have been recommended for study by the ECS church leadership. They are passionate about serving their communities and are being well equipped through theological and practical training, personal mentoring, and ministry experience.

It costs $3,000 per year to sponsor one of these students. Partners may choose to fully sponsor a student, but any amount of regular or one-time support will help cover theological education needs and we pray will eventually lead toward the re-opening of ANTC in Mundri.

Serge strives to follow donor intent. All giving to Serge is under the discretion of the Serge Board and is used to further the broad mission of Serge. We will give preference to the project and field the donor designates.
