Michaela Hunter grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from Samford University in 2020 with a degree in Elementary, Early Childhood and Special Education. Growing up, Michaela was always looking for ways to learn and knew she wanted to be a teacher from a very young age.
During college, Michaela began to feel the call to go overseas. In 2019, she was given the opportunity to intern at a school in Kampala, Uganda. It was there that she really saw the need for teachers in other parts of the world. After being connected with Serge through a professor in 2020, Michaela saw a need for Missionary Kid Teachers in a small schoolhouse in Uganda. It felt like the place God had prepared her heart for over the last few years.
Michaela has served as an MK Teacher in Bundibugyo, Uganda since 2020. After serving there for 2 years, she felt God’s call to stay for another term. Michaela is looking forward to continuing to serve missionary families as well as serving the community in Bundibugyo. She is thankful for the ways that God brought all of the pieces together for her to be in Uganda. She is also thankful for the ways God has gifted her and the passion she feels for teaching third culture kids.
