With the ground-breaking addition of two new surgical theaters in 2020, the Serge Chogoria team is in need of short and long-term Orthopedic Surgeons to come alongside and assist with the overwhelming need of orthopedic patients seen throughout the region. Position Title: Orthopedic Surgeon

Location: Chogoria, Kenya

FT/PT: Full-time

Length of Service: 1-2 years service of 4 years service (long-term)

Responsibilities: Provide clinical and surgical orthopedic care in a rural Kenyan
church hospital where 80% of the surgical need is orthopedic, as part of a mission team
of Kenyans and North Americans committed to sharing the Gospel through medical care,
chaplaincy, discipleship and education in an underserved area. The hospital is also a part
of the Surgical Residency Program, so significant time will be spent
mentoring Kenyan general surgery trainees in orthopedic care.

Requirements and Critical Qualities:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery (graduate of an approved medical school, completion of an Orthopedic Surgery residency, in good standing)
  • Vibrant faith with a vision for empowering others to heal the broken and share the Gospel
  • Willingness to trust God for living in a beautiful but relatively difficult to access area (slopes of Mount Kenya), learn language, submit to a cross-cultural team situation
  • Solid teaching skills for training surgical residents and general interns
