Alwood, Bruce and Kathy

Bruce and Kathy met, married and then raised their children in East Tennessee, where Bruce had a 25-year tenure with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship as campus staff, then Area Director, and finally as Regional Director for seven states in the Southeast. After 15 years as a part-time student, including a year-long study sabbatical, he earned an M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2001.

Kathy gladly served as support at home, raising their three children: Kasey (’88) (married to Caleb Fristoe), Paige (’90) and Moses (’98), volunteering in the church and community, and growing through 14 years of participation in Bible Study Fellowship. She began leading small groups through Serge’s Gospel Transformation discipleship course in 2001.

After being deeply impacted by Serge’s Sonship course and believing God was calling them to serve the Irish church together, Bruce and Kathy arrived in Dublin with Moses in July 2010. Through ongoing learning and partnerships with inspiringly faithful Irish Christian leaders in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, their service has included:

    • Alpha courses,
    • Sonship courses,
    • Directing the summer Sonship programme for Irish and American university students,
    • Mentoring,
    • Walk to Emmaus,
    • Quiet retreats ,
    • Teaching in secondary schools,
    • Spiritual Direction,
    • Bible Study Fellowship.

God has repeatedly and abundantly provided opportunities for their gifts and training to be employed!
